Day Trips From London

Day trips from London

Are you visiting London and are keen to do a few day trips to explore  rather than relocate around the countryside ?
As England is a lot smaller than here in Australia it is certainly possible to do this and see a lot of new places doing day trips either short near by places or more adventurous trips further afield
Amazingly you can get to see a variety of countries withing a short time due to cheap flights from London so it will be hard to choose where to visit first !
While we were in the UK they even had 1 pound day tickets on the ferries over to France , Fares to another country can't get much cheaper than that !
There are bus tours to Paris via the tunnelas well as other lovely places to visit around Britain.
You can choose from a variety of ways to do your day trips ,either by hiring a car , taking a bus tour , catching a train or by plane.
The opportunities to explore are endless so I will give you a few of my favourites that we enjoyed seeing on our travels like Bath , Brighton , Bodiam Castle, Dover & Paris.
One I really enjoyed while there was a day trip to Bruges and having a boat ride down the canel before exploring the quaint township !
After Australia it is such an amazing experience visiting so many countries in a short period of time !
Take advantage of discount rail travel as well as bus tours that offer great tours around Britain & Europe

I loved the Cotswalds

Beautiful area to visit

Day trip Ideas From London

Visit Stonehenge is the most popular prehistoric monument in the world as well as Windsor Castle & enjoy tea & a boat trip  in Oxford.
See Leeds Castle before it opens to the public. Enjoy lunch in Dover & see Canterbury Cathedral.
Enjoy a delicious two course lunch in Bibury described as the most beautiful village in Britain! Plus explore Burford and Bourton-on-the water, two of the most pictureque villages in the Cotswolds, before heading to Shakespeare's Stratford!
A trip to Paris via the Eurostar  visiting the Eiffel tower. In the afternoon we take a cruise on the River Seine that passes historic Notre Dame, before heading to the Le Louvre

Love the Castles & the history

Leeds Castle

Bodiam Castle

Near enough to visit from London . An hour and half drive.

Visit Bath & the Roman pools

Bath is another place we enjoyed visiting as it is a World Heritage Site and is a unique city with its springs, Roman Baths, Abbey, and Georgian stone crescents. The surrounding countryside also makes it worth the trip. Take time to browse at the city shops as this compact city center is largely free of traffic , enjoy morning tea at one of the quaint cafe's .

Bath & Roman Baths

Roman Baths
Pulteney Bridge in Bath is like the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence.
Brighton is about 1 and a half hours away , Be there for morning tea!

White Cliffs Of Dover

If you don't get anwhere else at least make sure you do a trip to Dover & across on the ferry to France especially if you have never been to another country that isn't mainly English speaking .
I found it an amazing feeling to be on a ferry looking back at the white cliffs of Dover the very first time we did the trip. Words cannot express the excitment & emotion to finally be doing this Spectacular cross-Channel panorama to France.
Make sure you view the world's busiest shipping lanes as well as enjoy the dramatic clifftop countryside walks of Dover. While up on the cliff you can relax & watch the ships coming & going from France.
